Longwood's U13 boys turned in a fine performance to overcome visiting St. Mary's in the opening round of the league on Friday evening last.
Two quick goals from Bo Connolly and Brendan Nicholson set the early tone and the young men in white never relinquished their lead.
After a tough first half, Longwood went in at half time with a lead of 3-9 to 0-9. Playing with the aid of a slight breeze in the second half, they kicked on to outscore the lads from Donore 3-6 to 2-1 to leave the score at full time 6-14 to 2-10. A special mention must go to young Brendan Nicholson who scored a hugely impressive 4 goals and 7 points on the night. The fact that Brendan is still U11 makes the achievement even more noteworthy. One to watch for the future!
Next up for Longwood is a short spin to Boardsmill on August 5th.
