SHC Group B - Round 4:  Longwood 3-19  Dunderry 0-6

Longwood maintained their progress through Group B of this year's Senior Hurling Championship with a comprehensive victory over Dunderry.

The game took place in sun-splashed Kilmessan; the weather enticing a reasonable crowd to the game, the Bank Holiday weekend notwithstanding.  In truth, the game lacked the real cut and thrust of championship as Longwood dominated from the outset, rarely looking in any real danger.  This will not have worried the supporters who watched their team produce a strong performance and run up a healthy score of 3 goals and 19 points.

The highlights were three well taken goals; a brace from Karl Ennis sandwiching a typically clinical finish from Eoin Lynch.  Another notable highlight was the steadying influence of veterans (forgive me lads) Enda Dixon and Jim Dorran; the latter rolling back the years with a couple of memorable points in a brief cameo during the second half.

Tougher tests will undoubtedly lie ahead but the team showed a steely determination in dispatching today's opposition and that's all we can ask for now.

Longwood: Mick Healy, Paul Gill, Chris Lynch, Enda Dixon, Joey Stenson, Eoin Lynch (1-6), Johnny Furey, Niall Mulvey, Karl Ennis (2-2), Bob Maguire, Ryan Moore (0-1), Damien Healy (0-3), Aaron Ennis (0-2), Michael Burke (0-2), Sean Sheridan. Subs: Coran Byrne (0-1), Jim Dorran (0-2), Ross Kerrigan, Evan Coyle, Gavin Griffin.

Football takes centre stage next weekend as the boys face up to the formidable challenge that Meath Hill will present.

Please come out and support the boys.  They have given tremendous value so far this season and your support can only help.
