Longwood continued their recent good run with a comprehensive victory over previously unbeaten Castletown on Tuesday evening.
Coming into the game in ninth position in the table, Longwood’s need was greater, and this was clearly evident from the start as the players applied themselves to the task with serious intent. With Sean Coloe, Conor Dixon and Damien Healy prominent throughout the home team took control in the second quarter and kept the scoreboard ticking whilst at the same time keeping tabs on Castletown’s scoring threat. The scoreline was embellished courtesy of three excellent goals from Ben McLoughlin, Sean Coloe and Cian O'Sullivan.
With the teams due to meet again in the championship there was an element of shadow boxing to this contest. Castletown were missing a significant number of their stronger players but Longwood too were missing a number of players
But championship is for another day, for now all that matters is the league and Aaron Ennis’ charges will be happy to have secured two more precious points.
